FAQ
What is a zine?
A zine is a compilation of fanworks within a PDF file or a physical booklet, usually surrounding a specific theme. In our case, Starburst is all about Mina Ashido from Boku no Hero Academia!
Is this zine free, for-charity or for-profit?
Starburst is a totally free zine! Because of this, there will be no physical copies sold, only a PDF released at the end of our creation period.
Will NSFW content be allowed?
Yes! Alongside Starburst, we plan to create a second companion zine called Cosmos that features NSFW content. Content restrictions for Cosmos will be decided after the interest check.
What content will be restricted?
Bestiality, Incest, Lolicon/Shotacon, Watersports, Scat, Emeto, and Extreme Violence/Gore will not be allowed in either zine. Other hard-kink content will be accepted in the NSFW zine Cosmos on a case-by-case basis.
Will ship content be allowed?
Starburst aims to have a mixture of gen, solo and ship content! Caps for certain ships and characters will be in effect to ensure a diverse zine with content that everyone can enjoy.
How many contributors will be accepted?
Based on the results of our interest check, we will feature 15 Page Artists, 6 Writers, and 3 Merch Artists in Starburst and 11 Page Artists, 3 Writers, and 2 Merch Artists in Cosmos, including Guests.

App Guidelines
All applicants must be 18 or older at the time of application
Applicants can submit for more than one role, but will only be accepted for one.
All samples must be properly tagged
All applicants will be expected to submit at least two pitches
Please do not submit samples that contain any of the following restricted topics, as they will not be allowed in the zine: Bestiality, Incest, Shotacon/Lolicon, Noncon, Watersports, Scat, Emeto, and Graphic Violence/Gore
Previous work that includes the above content will not affect zine application or consideration.
Writers will be expected to create a minimum of one piece of up to 3k words for the zine they're accepted to.
Page Artists will be expected to creat a minimum of one page for the zine they're accepted to
Merch Artists will be expected to create a minimum of 1-2 merch pieces, depending on complexity, for the zine they're accepted toAll accepted contributors will be given the opportunity to create an additional piece for the other zine, so long as their main piece for the zine they're accepted to remains their priority.Please Note:
Submission links that are broken or do not lead directly to a specific sample will not be evaluated and may impact your application.
Please double check that all google links have link sharing enabled!
Writer Guidelines
Writers must submit 3 samples of their best work
Each sample must be no longer than 3k words.
At least one sample must include Ashido Mina
Portfolios optional
Samples must be submitted as Google Docs or AO3 links. Twitter threads will not be accepted.
If applying to Cosmos, at least one sample must be NSFW
Excerpts from longer fics are allowed, although you are limited to one excerpt sample in your application
Applications will be evaluated based on: Grammar & Spelling, Pacing & Flow, Characterization, Style & Engagement, and Pitches
Page Artist Guidelines
Artists must submit 3 samples of their best work and a portfolio
At least one sample must be from BNHA
At least one sample must showcase a female character
Samples including Ashido Mina are not required but highly encouraged
At least one sample must include a detailed background
At least one sample must be fully colored
If applying to Cosmos, at least one sample must be NSFW
Applications will be evaluated based on: Style, Composition, Coloring, Perspective, Anatomy, and Pitches
Merch Artist Guidelines
Merch Artists must submit 3 samples of their best work and a portfolio
At least one sample must be from BNHA
At least one sample must showcase a female character
Samples including Ashido Mina are not required but highly encouraged
At least one sample must be of a digital merch item
At least one sample must be fully colored
If applying to Cosmos, at least one sample must be NSFW or Suggestive
Applications will be evaluated based on: Style, Composition, Coloring, Perspective, Anatomy, and Pitches
